How Early Should You Get a Blowout Before an Evening Event in Downtown Vancouver?

Two to four hours before you need to be ready is the sweet spot for most evening events. That is enough time for the style to set and cool fully, gives you a buffer if you need to get dressed, put on makeup, or touch anything up, and means you are not arriving somewhere with hair that looks like it was just done five minutes ago.

Why Timing Matters

A blowout looks its best about an hour after it is finished. The hair has cooled completely, the volume has settled, and the shine is at its peak. If you go straight from the chair to an event, the style is still a little too fresh and can look slightly stiff. Letting it breathe for an hour makes a meaningful difference.

The other reason to leave a buffer is practical. Getting dressed, doing makeup, and managing whatever else comes up before a night out takes longer than expected, particularly if you are attending something at the Convention Centre, a hotel in Coal Harbour, or a venue along the waterfront where parking and logistics add time.

You can book your appointment, walk to your event, and not worry about transit or parking between the salon and your destination.

For evening events, late afternoon appointments, roughly 4pm to 6pm, tend to work well. You are done in time to get dressed comfortably and you arrive at your event with hair that has had time to settle.

What to Consider for Your Specific Event

If you are attending a gala or black-tie event and plan to have your makeup done separately, coordinate the two appointments so hair comes first. Sitting in a makeup chair after a blowout is fine; doing it the other way around can disturb the roots and neckline.

If you are getting ready at a hotel and coming to us, or if we are coming to you, the same two-to-four-hour window applies. The main thing is to avoid booking so close to the event that you are rushing, and so far ahead that the style has lost its peak before you arrive.

We accept walk-ins when we have availability, but for an evening event, booking in advance is the smarter call. Late afternoons on Fridays and Saturdays fill up quickly, especially during wedding season and around major events at BC Place or Rogers Arena.
