Planning a Girls Day in West Vancouver
West Vancouver is one of the best spots on the North Shore for a proper girls day. The combination of waterfront walks, great food, and a handful of genuinely good spots to spend an afternoon makes it easy to fill a full day without driving all over the city. Starting with hair and beauty at Wish Dry Bar on Bellevue Avenue sets the tone for the rest of it.
Start with Hair at Wish Dry Bar
We are on Bellevue Avenue, a short walk from the water and right in the middle of West Vancouver's main stretch. A blowout takes 45 to 60 minutes and you leave with a style that holds. That matters when you have a full day ahead. Whether you want sleek and straight, big waves, or soft curls, we set it and it stays.
For groups, book everyone together and we run multiple stylists simultaneously so nobody is sitting around waiting. We have a liquor licence and serve wine and champagne, which helps set the mood right from the start. Coffee and tea too if it is more of a morning situation.
Other services that work well for a girls day: eyebrow threading takes about 15 minutes and the results are sharp. Makeup application for a special dinner or event later. Or a root touch-up if you have been putting it off and want to feel polished for the day.
Walk the Seawall to Dundarave
Once everyone is done, the Centennial Seawalk runs right along the water from Ambleside to Dundarave. It is flat, easy, and genuinely beautiful. The walk between the two areas takes about 20 to 25 minutes at a relaxed pace. On a clear day you can see across to the city and over to Vancouver Island.
Ambleside Park itself is worth a wander. There is a proper beach, grass areas, and a pier. If the weather is decent, this is where you spend an hour before lunch.
Lunch in Dundarave or Ambleside
The Dundarave Village strip on Marine Drive has a good mix of cafes and restaurants that work well for a group. Nothing too rushed, nothing that requires a reservation weeks out. The area has a neighbourhood feel without being sleepy about it.
Cypress Mountain and the View
If anyone in the group wants to add something a bit more active, Cypress Mountain is about a 15-minute drive up from Dundarave. In summer, the trails around the base offer views over Howe Sound that are hard to match anywhere close to the city. Even a short walk up to a viewpoint is worth the drive.
Horseshoe Bay for the Afternoon
About 10 minutes west of Dundarave, Horseshoe Bay is a ferry terminal village that most people drive past without stopping. The village sits right at the water with a small marina, a few restaurants, and a genuinely relaxed atmosphere. It also works well as a last stop before heading home.
Whytecliff Park
Just past Horseshoe Bay, Whytecliff Park has rocky shoreline, small islands you can walk out to at low tide, and clear water. Worth 30 minutes if you are already in that direction.
Evening Options
If the day is turning into an evening, the Park Royal area has a cinema and a good spread of restaurants that can handle a group without advance planning. Some of the restaurants along Marine Drive do a proper dinner service too.
