Getting a Haircut Before a Job Interview in Vancouver
A job interview is one of the few occasions where how you look has a direct effect on how you perform. Not because appearance should matter more than credentials, but because feeling put together changes how you carry yourself. A good haircut and a professional style before an interview is not vanity. It is preparation.
At Wish Dry Bar, we have two locations in the Vancouver area: Bellevue Avenue in West Vancouver and the Fairmont Pacific Rim in downtown Vancouver. Both work well for pre-interview appointments depending on where your interview is and how much time you have.
What to Book for an Interview
The combination most clients choose before an important interview is a precision haircut followed by a blowout. The haircut cleans up your shape and makes everything intentional. The blowout finishes it so you leave polished rather than just trimmed.
If your cut is already in good shape but you just need to look sharp on the day, a blowout alone does the job. A professional blowout holds through a full day including a commute and a long meeting.
If your interview is in the morning, book the day before rather than the morning of. That gives the style time to settle and removes any risk of running late.
Timing Your Appointment
A haircut and blowout together takes about 90 minutes. A blowout on its own takes 45 to 60 minutes depending on hair length and thickness. For morning interviews, an appointment the afternoon before is ideal. For afternoon interviews, a morning appointment the same day works well.
Our downtown Vancouver location at the Fairmont Pacific Rim opens at 7 in the morning. Both locations are open seven days a week.
Eyebrow Threading Before an Interview
If your eyebrows have grown out, adding a quick threading appointment makes a significant difference. Threading takes about 15 minutes and creates clean, defined brows. Do it two or three days before your interview so any minor redness has fully settled.
What Style to Ask For
For interviews, most clients want something clean and professional without being severe. Smooth and sleek works for corporate and finance roles. Soft waves or a polished blowout read well for creative and client-facing positions. Tell your stylist where you are interviewing and for what type of role. We can adjust the finish accordingly.
Downtown Vancouver vs. West Vancouver Location
If your interview is in downtown Vancouver, Coal Harbour, or the financial district, our Fairmont Pacific Rim location is the practical choice. It is central, accessible by transit, and open early.
If you are based on the North Shore or your interview is in West or North Vancouver, our Bellevue Avenue location is easier. Parking is available on the street and nearby.
Book Your Pre-Interview Appointment
Weekday appointments tend to have more availability than weekends. Book ahead to make sure you get your preferred time slot.
