How Far in Advance Should You Book Your Wedding Hair Stylist in Vancouver?

For a Vancouver wedding, you should book your hair stylist six to nine months in advance, and up to a year ahead if your wedding falls on a peak-season weekend. That is earlier than most couples expect, but stylists take a limited number of weddings per date, and the good ones for popular Saturdays get reserved well ahead.

Why This Far Ahead?

A hair stylist can only take one wedding per time slot on a given day. Unlike a restaurant that can seat many bookings, your stylist is committing their entire morning to you. That scarcity is why wedding dates get claimed early, especially for the Saturdays and Sundays that make up the bulk of the wedding calendar.

Vancouver's wedding season runs heaviest from late spring through early fall. A Saturday in June, July, August, or September is in high demand, and those dates are often spoken for six months to a year out. If your wedding is in that window, booking early is not being overly cautious, it is simply how the calendar works here.

A Booking Timeline That Works

Here is a realistic sequence for most Vancouver couples.

As soon as your date and venue are confirmed, start looking for your stylist. This is often nine to twelve months before the wedding. You do not need every detail figured out; you just need to reserve the date with someone whose work you trust.

Book your hair and makeup trial for roughly two to four months before the wedding. This comes after the stylist is reserved, not before. The trial is where you finalize the look, so it makes sense once the date is locked and you have a clearer picture of your dress and overall style.

Confirm all the final details, timing, number of people, and location, in the month or two before the wedding. By this point everything should be settled and the wedding-day plan simply needs confirming.

Off-Season and Weekday Weddings

If your wedding is on a weekday, or in the quieter months from late fall through early spring, you have more flexibility. You can often book three to six months ahead without trouble. That said, the best stylists stay busy year-round, so earlier is always safer than later. Reserving early costs you nothing and guarantees you are not scrambling.

What If You Have Left It Late?

If your wedding is only a couple of months away and you have not booked, do not panic, but do act now. Call rather than email, be flexible on timing, and have your date and getting-ready location ready to share. Availability tightens quickly in peak season, but cancellations and open slots do happen. The sooner you reach out, the better your options.
